“Photo Tourism” in Lisbon, Portugal, March 23rd-30th, 2019

We are staying at the Tesouro da Baixa Boutique Guesthouse in Lisbon!

This is a workshop I call “Photo Tourism”. The idea is to go on the vacation you are already going on but go with a professional photographer (that would be me!) and learn how to take better photos as well.

We all carry a camera around with us – whether it’s on our phones or a dedicated device. But many people don’t know what makes for a good/great photo. They just click away and “hope it comes out”.

Wouldn’t it be great if you could go some place and have a professional instructor teach you how to take good pictures and be at your beck and call to help you capture the shots you see – no matter what kind of camera you have?

Wouldn’t it be great to come back from vacation and have people actually *want* to see your vacation photos? Or to have images you can proudly have printed out and displayed on your walls or to give as gifts to family and friends?

Wouldn’t it be great to go to a beautiful place and learn, not only how to take pictures of that place, but to gain knowledge that will help you with every photo you take afterwards?

My wife and I are planning on being in Lisbon, Portugal during the school Spring Break here in BC. We’ll be there from March 23rd to the 30th (we’ll be honeymooning in Florence, Italy the week before!). Lisbon is an amazing and beautiful city – great scenery, food, history, tiles, and, even better, really inexpensive! 🙂

We will meet on four of the mornings we are there to learn about specific aspects of photography – Composition, Landscape, Portraits, and Street/Black and White. We will spend an hour or so going over the concepts and then “hit the streets” as a group to practice the theory. After lunch, you’re free to explore, shop, relax or continue to hang out with Melissa and I taking photographs.

There will also be at least one side trip to the beautiful little town of Sintra.

On the last night of the trip, we’ll have dinner and do a “photo critique” of our images and I’d give you additional tips and tricks on how to make them even better in editing.

You are responsible for your own air fare. We’ll arrange the hotel where we’ll all stay (details to come) and you’ll contact the hotel directly to make payment.

I’ve been guesstimating costs and for Melissa and I flying out of Vancouver. I’m seeing flights for approx $900 US so from other major cities in Canada and the US it should be cheaper than that. The hotel we’ll stay at will cost less than $130 US/night (NOT per person!). The actual Starting Point Photography sessions (at least six multi-hour sessions) will be $500 US/person. Discounts will be available to Early Bird attendees.

For those of you who know me and/or Melissa, you’ll know we’ll have a lot of fun learning about Lisbon and photography! Please let me know via email at shawn@StartingPointPhotography.com and if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.

For those of you purchasing Early Bird (before November 1st, 2018 and getting $100 US off!) tickets, thank you VERY much. If for some reason, we or you cancel the trip before midnight on October 31st, 2018, you will receive a FULL REFUND. After October 31st, 2018, NO REFUNDS will be offered but, if you must cancel after that date, you will still be welcome, free of charge, at any future Starting Point Photography trips of this nature (Photo Tourism type events).
